One of the best places to visit in Romania is the Alexandru Borza Botanic Gardens, in Cluj-Napoca. This massive garden has rolling green hills, a quaint observation tower, a beautiful rose garden, and even a Japanese garden. In the medieval town of Maramures, you will find that the traditional, peasant culture is alive and thriving. Here you will enjoy traditional music, hand carved and handcrafted wooden structures, as well as colourful textiles. Towering above Brasov is Mount Tampa, a mountain rich in history. You can hop on a cable car and enjoy the view from the top.
Bucharest is a wonderful example of the old and new in Romania. There are plenty of churches, cathedrals, monasteries, cemeteries, historical sites and shopping centres in this part of Romania. The Romanian Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest is an amazing architectural site that still has all of its original interior paintings. There are some very old icons and beautiful frescoes in this historic church.
At Northern Dobrogea, you’ll find a haven for wildlife where there are lots of exotic birds. Just nearby, there are restaurants and entertainment centres, including theatres and opera houses.
