London Wins Gold Medal For Culture in 2012

London is a great place to visit in 2012 because there is so much happening. In addition to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations between 2nd and 5th of June and the Olympic Games from 27th July to 12th August, there is The Cultural Olympiad 2012.

London is a culture-vulture’s paradise at the best of times, but during The Cultural Olympiad 2012 there will be a massive programme of events including dance, the visual arts, music and film, digital arts, fashion, opera, classical and pop music. The festival will feature commissions by world famous artists and will open on Midsummer’s day (21st June), continuing until the last day of the Paralympics on 9th September 2012.

The Cultural Olympiad 2012 will spark off 1000 events across the country with 10 million opportunities to get involved for free. There really couldn’t be a more exciting time to be visiting the city of London. So get yourself organised and make reservations at some excellent London bed and breakfast accommodation, then work on your itinerary.

How about this date for your diary to get you started? The BBC’s Radio1 Hackney Weekend takes place on the 23rd and 24th June 2012 on Hackney Marshes in East London. This free event will feature appearances by pop music stars Tinie Tempah, Florence and the Machine, Plan B and original Hackney girl, Leona Lewis. This event for 100,000 people will be extremely popular so apply for tickets at the earliest possible opportunity to avoid disappointment.
