It is possible the Caribbean will simply keep the top spot for the most popular cruise destination, not only because the Caribbean truly is an ideal getaway, but also due to the size of the region.
When you are looking for a Caribbean destination you will have to decide between an eastern, western and southern Caribbean cruise region.  Once you have settled on a region, you will again have to choose an actual destination or cruise path that will take in what you want to see.

Reports show that the most desired region in the Caribbean is the western area, which consists of spectacular places such as Grand Cayman, the Mexican Riviera and Jamaica.  The eastern Caribbean and southern Caribbean regions were the second and third most popular choices.

The Caribbean takes the top spot, with Europe coming in as the second most popular cruise destination choice amongst travellers, while third place went to Alaska.  These results are based on 2011 reports from more than 100 major travel and cruise operators around the globe.

Many holidaymakers were keen to cruise around Europe this season.  Their current second place position is a nice jump from the fourth place of popular cruise choices that was held by Europe last year.  More than eleven per cent of all cruise goers will choose Europe, followed by Alaska with seven per cent and then Bermuda, which has risen to fourth from seventh place from last year.

If you are looking for other popular holiday destinations for those 2012 cruises, consider the Panama Canal, Canada and New England, Hawaii, the South Pacific, and the Mexican Riviera. When booking your cruise, do not be shy about reserving a place on a luxury cruise liner. These luxury cruise liners remain the top choice for those hitting the open sea for their next holiday.
