What to pack for a Greek villa holiday

If you’re not quite sure what staying at a villa in Greece involves, here are a few tips to help make your holiday as relaxing, comfortable, and stress free as possible.

The most important thing is to travel light as Greek transport can be fairly basic, and you may have to carry your bags quite a distance at the airport when you arrive. Also, many airlines now charge extra for bags in the hold, so if you can keep it to a minimum or even pack hand luggage only, you will save a bit of money. Wearing the bulkiest clothes and shoes on the journey will help.

Greek holiday locations are usually low key and relaxed. Shorts, T-shirts and flip flops are usually perfectly acceptable attire, with a sarong or shirt for covering up, and swimwear of course. It’s wise to take long trousers and long sleeved shirts to protect against biting insects in the evenings, and you’ll also need a light jacket or windcheater.

Holiday villas and apartments in Greece usually come fully equipped with bed linen, bath towels, tea towels and basic household equipment. You will probably have to bring beach towels though, and don’t forget adapter plugs and phone/camera chargers, toiletries and any medications you might need. Many British food items aren’t available in Greek shops, so if you and your family can’t live without a particular blend of tea or a jar of Marmite, you should pack them too.
